第五季的故事中，编剧将会有一个重大的时间跳跃；Anna饰演的“Joanie”是Alison和Cole的女儿，将会以成年人的身份登场，重新回到Montauk寻求关于母亲的真相。目前《婚外情事》确定新一季除了Ruth Wilson饰演的“Alison”不再出现之外，剧中的另外一位男主“Cole”Joshua Jackson也已经降级到客串演员，仅会出现1-2集。
