京剧武生袁世勇在京城刺杀了日本大佐之后一路逃亡出关来到了东北境内。为了生计袁世勇重操旧业，又重组了袁家班以唱戏为生。原东北军的一名营长孙殿奎为了给家父祝寿，特意请来袁家班唱堂会。不料锣鼓点儿刚刚响起，袁世勇还没来得及上台亮相，院外便响起了一阵枪声。一队日本关东军包围了孙宅。孙殿奎的手下纷纷亮出武器，与进攻的关东军展开了一场混战。战斗中，负伤的孙殿奎走投无路之际，一支抗联的小分队抄了关东军的后路。袁世勇趁机将孙殿奎救出。而关东军却将孙殿奎的父亲，以及戏班的所有人等系数扣押。袁世勇为了营救袁家班的兄弟姐妹，毅然来到了关东军驻地。
