一部讴歌改革开放40年伟大变革、反映中国农村深刻变化、弘扬新一代农民创新精神、探寻当代农业发展道路、思索中国三农问题的史诗大剧。全剧围绕“活下去、富起来、新农民”的结构 ，讲述了在中央“一号文件”的带领下，以秦学安、赵秀娟、张天顺、张守信、秦田、秦奋为代表的三代农民和农村干部，他们以亲历者、践行者、见证者的身份，在改革开放四十年的伟大变革中，为追求美好生活而艰苦奋斗的故事。
