刘墉是中国最后一个封建王朝清王朝乾隆年间的宰相。为人机智、幽默、正直，不怕丢官，不惧恶势力，走出宫廷，深入民间，做了许多为人称颂的好事。本片就是依据历史和演绎而拍摄的故事。剧中除有刘罗锅与皇亲国戚、当朝权贵斗争的一面外，更多的是把镜头伸向民间，大量地反映刘墉明查暗访民间疾苦，秉公断案，除暴安良，为民作主，伸张正义的一面。在制作编排上既采用一般系列剧全本整套的演义形式，同时又将全剧分成1 0 个单元。分别是一、巧审石头案，二、莲花庵，三、白玉莲击鼓，四、刘墉坠井，五、打赌击掌，六、慧眼识盗贼，七、秀才住监，八、刘墉上堂，九、二十一个强盗，十、饿虎庄。

An unlikely trio traverses a desert planet in search of a rumored lake- and the hope for a better life that it represents.
