李时珍发现当今世上的医书错误连连漏洞百出，于是起了编撰《本草纲目》的念头。然而，他却因为个性过于耿直而得罪了权贵，使得他不得不暂时中断了医书的编撰，还性命不保踏上了逃亡的旅途。所幸有太医院的庞宪（马国明 饰）一路帮助扶持，李时珍终于完成了旷世奇作《本草纲目》。
