电影《我的早更女友》讲述了周迅饰演的女主角因失恋而提前进入“更年期”，之后又被爱情治愈的浪漫故事。该片是继《我的野蛮女友》、《我的机器人女友》后的第三部，也是郭在容导演“亚洲女友三部曲”的终结篇，他表示在“早更女友”后，不可能再有更强的女友了。而作为“中国女友”，周迅此次加盟该片也是受到郭在容导演的钦点，他坦言看到周迅的第一眼，心中便认定了女主角就是她，“把性感、清新、疯狂集于一身，想不到中国女演员中有谁会比周迅更适合了”。
本片是由一位狂热的特异跑车收藏爱好者丹尼尔·萨德克投资2600万美元制作，并将他私人拥有的高级汽车贡献给摄制组拍摄使用。而在摄制过程中他的一辆价值20万美元的保时捷被撞毁。本片导演曾是成龙特技组的特技指导。
