FX电视网在电视评论家协会的冬季新闻发布会上宣布，将瑞恩·墨菲和布拉德·法尔查克打造的《美国恐怖故事》再续订两季。去年10月份的时候，《美国恐怖故事》刚刚续订第7季，如今再续订两季，这也意味着该剧将延长至第9季。《美恐》第7季将在今年回归，而第9季的播出时间为2019年9月。同时，这次续订也并不代表《美国恐怖故事》将在第9季迎来全剧终。
